The celebration of Halloween has grown popular in Hong Kong over the years. Originally a one-night event in October, it has turned into several weeks, and even months, of Halloween activity for malls and theme parks in Hong Kong and casinos in Macau.
We have helped several clients create original Halloween shows with drum-set percussion, dance choreography, Halloween magic, kung fu, acting, and comedy. We have also created original Halloween costumes that cannot be found in shops.
These Halloween characters can be combined into parade groups with live musicians dressed in Halloween costumes, a formula we have developed for Hong Kong shopping malls.

HALLOWEEN SHOW CREATION IN HONG KONG
A kung fu comedy stage show created for Ocean Park’s Halloween bash.
Zani Productions was asked by Hong Kong Ocean Park to create a kung fu comedy stage show for their yearly Halloween bash. With professional movie stunt performers and acrobats who could flip and fight as if they were on a film set, we invented a highly dysfunctional Hong Kong family living in a tiny flat and chasing an elusive Halloween Paradise. The mother was a hard-boiled fighter, and her favourite weapon was the kung fu pan. The show was set in a scary Chinese doll world, with the dolls sometimes multiplying and dancing as a tripled puppet effect.

Zani Productions has produced several Halloween shows for Ocean Park. At its peak, the Halloween bash had up to 400 performers roving the dark alleys of the park at night. One show was a drum rock-and-roll battle set in an underworld garage. Conducted by two percussionists, the battle built into well-known heavy metal tunes, and two volunteers from the audience were invited to play the drums live. For dance, a choreographer set an energetic hip-hop gargoyle trio that appeared several times a night to lift the Halloween spirit.
HALLOWEEN PARADES FOR EVENTS IN HONG KONG

For Hong Kong shopping malls, we have created scary roving characters. They walk the malls during Halloween to mark the promotions and give shoppers photo opportunities. For larger events we organise Halloween parades that group several characters with musicians. Some characters are on stilts, such as the giant vampire or the mummy. Others are regular size. The parades are accompanied by Halloween music played live by musicians in costume. A band can be two musicians walking through the venue, or a larger group with guitar, percussion, trumpet, and other instruments.
